Core Characteristics of CSD Visual Arts Program

Students and teacher will take ownership of their work; taking the work seriously and being truly motivated.

Student identity development is enhanced through the arts by interpreting their life experiences; integrating varied aspects about themselves, culturally, historically, etc.

Persistence is nurtured – hard work, self motivation and the ability to stick to a task.

Work with others – requiring a high level of responsiveness, sensitivity to others and coordinated interaction.

Students will explore cultures, currently and historically; identifying how arts and cultures are intertwined.

Cross curriculum integration – when problem solving in other core subjects students could utilize methods developed in the arts; possibly selecting an unconventional way to communicate learned information.
