Driver's Education is an elective offered by the State of North Carolina through area high schools. Jordan Driving is the current contracted driving school that teaches both the required classroom and driving portion of the elective.
To take Driver's Education your child must be 14 1/2 years old on or by the start of the classroom portion. This course costs $45 per student. At CSD, we offer the written portion twice a year. Once in June and again in August. If you are interested in having your child take the classroom portion here at CSD, please contact Alicia Martin at amartin@csdnc.org. Please reference Driver's Ed in the subject line.
Once your child has completed the classroom portion, Jordan Driving will contact you personally to set up the driving portion. After completing the driving portion and turning 15, your child can take the written exam at your local DMV to obtain their Permit to drive with a parent. They must keep their Permit for a total of 365 days. At that point they may apply for their license.
If you would like to have your child take the class at a different time of the year, over Christmas, Spring Break, or through the summer months, you may contact Jordan Driving School. You can obtain information off their website at http://www.jdscharlotte.com/.
The class is being offered June 10-14, 2013, each day starting at 8:00 a.m., and ending at 2:30 p.m. at the High School. Please arrive a little early class begins promptly at 8am each day
