CSD High School students pursue a course of study in the four years prior to graduation that meets state requirements for the diploma and prepares them for success in college and other post-graduate pursuits. Specific aspects of the curriculum are detailed below:

•  Arts Concentration: Students identify an area of art for intensive study throughout the course of their HS careers.  In doing so, students gain proficiency in a particular discipline, develop and mature as artists, and potentially identify and begin an engagement with a lifelong interest that will add depth and dimension to their lives. Students may select a concentration from one of the following areas: dance, music (orchestra/band and chorus), technology, theater, visual arts, and woodworking.
  
• Vocational Exploration & Internships: Building on initial experiences gained through the 8th grade Practicum, students embark on a highly individualized consideration of vocation during high school.  Students work one-on one with counselors to identify areas of interest, as well as off-campus learning opportunities. By the junior or senior year, students may submit a proposal for earning credit through an internship approved by administrators.
  
• 9th and 10th Grade Seminars: During the first two years of high school, students participate in weekly, grade-appropriate seminars that address personal and social development issues. These seminars build on the advisory curriculum introduced in middle school and are facilitated by our school counselor.  Among the topics covered are: time management and study skills, college and post-graduate planning, community-building and service, healthy relationships, and personal growth.
  
• Wellness Programs: CSD’s Wellness curriculum focuses on exercise, nutrition, and resilience to help students establish healthy, life-long habits.
  
• Advisory: Beginning in 10th grade, Advisory becomes a mixed-age group that students remain in through graduation. These Advisory teams focus on service to the local community and the world.  Each team identifies an unmet need, specific issue or challenge that it wishes to address through outreach and sweat equity.  It is our goal that team members build strong bonds with each other and with the faculty advisor,  who will serve as a mentor to and advocate for his or her advisees.
