Community School of Davidson is a public North Carolina Charter School. As a public charter school, we welcome students of any race, color, and national or ethnic origin. No tuition or any other fees are required to attend our school.

When will registration forms be available?
October 1 through January 31 of each year.
What is the registration form deadline?
All registration forms must be received in-house or post marked by January 31. Any registration form received after January 31 is NOT entered in the lottery but is added to the end of the grade level wait list.
How old does my child need to be to register for Kindergarten?
A child must be five years old on or before August 31 to enroll as a Kindergarten student.
How do I register?
We have 2 options for your convenience:
Option #1 – Online Registration - PREFERRED due to the large volume or registration forms received, for CURRENT Resident of North Carolina only. Link will be available October 1 - January 31 of each year. A couple of things to remember and keep in mind:
- All the information you need to make this an easy and successful experience is contained within the form.
- Take your time.
- You need to have a valid email address to participate.
- Use the TAB key to navigate around the form.
- Avoid using the "back" button on your browser.
- Our form has required fields and will not let you submit unless those fields are complete. Those fields are indicated by a red asterisk (*)
- When you are finished filling out the form and hit submit, you will automatically be assigned a registration number for your child. This screen will pop up immediately after you hit the submit button. Please print this for your records.
- At the same time, as a backup, the same information will be sent to the e-mail address provided in the form.
Option #2 – Paper Registration. Link to the PDF will also be available October 1 - January 31 of each year. For those moving from out of state to North Carolina, this is the only registration option for you. A paper registration along with proof of residency must be submitted by January 31 in order to be eligible, no exceptions. Registration forms received after January 31 will automatically be placed at the end of the appropriate grade level wait list generated by the lottery, in the order they are received. Please keep the following in mind as you complete the paper version of the registration form:
- The registration form has two sides and must be filled out in its entirety to be eligible for the lottery.
- In the space provided on the back of the registration form, please indicate whether or not you have attended an open house.
- You may return the form to us in one of three ways: Mail, Fax, or Drop Off (8:30am-3:00pm)

Registration forms received after January 31 will not be eligible for the lottery. Any application received after the deadline however, will still be accepted and your child will be added to the end of the grade level waitlist. Please call or come by the school to pick up a Registration Form if it is after the January 31 deadline.
Do I have to attend an Open House?
No, however we strongly encourage it. Our school philosophy is amazing and unique, but is not for everyone. Should you be admitted to CSD, and have not had the opportunity to attend an Open House, we will be contacting you to attend an information session. We feel it’s important for all our new families to have an opportunity to hear about CSD to decide if our school’s philosophy and values align with that of your family.
If I mail or fax in a paper registration form, what happens?
We will manually assign it a Registration Number. You will be notified of this number by email or mail depending on the choice you selected on the form. PLEASE RECORD THIS REGISTRATION NUMBER AND KEEP IT IN A SAFE PLACE! It is the number we will refer to for all further lottery communications.
Is there a way for me to double check to be sure my registration form has been received?
Yes, you will be able to verify the receipt of your registration form on our website. Database updates occur on a weekly basis. See Registration Form Verification Page to the left!
I am currently on the waitlist, does the waitlist expire once the new lottery is run or does it carryover?
The current waitlist for the 2011-12 school year does not carry over; it will expire on January 15, 2012. If your child does not get in by January 15, a new registration form must be submitted. You are welcome to register online or pick up a registration form anytime between October 1, 2011 and January 31, 2012 during normal school operating hours (8:30am-3:00pm)
How many spots will you be filling for this lottery?
Open space is determined by the number of current students planning to return.
How are siblings of currently enrolled students treated?
Siblings of students attending CSD for an entire school year are given priority for placement as spaces for the applicable grade level become available. Currently, sibling priority wait lists for each grade level are quite large. While we are hopeful to place these siblings within a year, it is possible that it could take longer.
I have multiple birth siblings (twins, triplets, etc.), how does that work?
If multiple birth siblings apply for admission to a charter school and a lottery is needed under G.S. 115C-238.29F(g)(6), the charter school shall enter one surname into the lottery to represent all of the multiple birth siblings. If that surname of the multiple birth siblings is selected, then all of the multiple birth siblings shall be admitted. To learn more, please click here
Do I have to be a resident of North Carolina in order to participate in the lottery?
Yes. The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, Division of Charter Schools, mandates that applications from out-of-state residents are not eligible for admission unless proof of North Carolina residency can be provided by January 31, 2013. If you are moving to the area and wish to participate in our lottery, online registration is not available to you. A paper registration form along with proof of residency must be submitted by January 31 in order to be eligible, no exceptions. Please refer to Option #2 above under How do I register?
