Welcome to High School Woodshop!

Welcome to Wood Art at CSD.
This class will offer students the opportunity to engage in a variety of activities centered around woodworking and woodturning.
The number one priority in our class is safety. Students will be instructed in the safe use of both hand and power tools. Students will progress at their own pace, and no student will ever be asked to use any equipment that they have not received proper instruction on and are personally comfortable using.
Students will quickly progress to independent project planning and construction. As classroom facilitator, my primary role is to provide students with a working knowledge of the tools and techniques necessary to meet and hopefully exceed their personal expectations.
I will challenge students with a variety of projects, and they will be asked to contribute to both their school community and the greater community in which they live.
Throughout the year, we will invite professional woodworkers into our classroom for demonstrations and extension activities.
We will also be spending time outside the classroom learning about wood science, tree identification, and visiting local galleries and artists.
It is my sincere hope that all students will leave this class with a greater knowledge and appreciation for woodworking as a fine craft and a possible life long pursuit.
